Is this course for you?
The Higher National Certificate qualification is designed for technicians in the building services industry. The course caters for three pathways. Mechanical Electrical Plumbing
What do you need to get on the course?
Normally at least one of the following giving a minimum of 80 UCAS points where appropriate: NC/ND in appropriate area. AVCE/GNVQ in appropriate vocational area. GCE A Level profile of either strong performance in relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. Both the above to be supported by GCSE grades at Level A - C. Other related Level 3 qualification. Access to HE Certificate. Related work experience An interview will be necessary prior to admission onto the course

What's the course about?
For the award of an Higher National Certificate a minimum of 10 modules must be achieved. Certain modules on the course are essential. The remainder of modules are offered from a range of options.
Is work experience a necessary part of the course?
The programme is intended primarily for people who are in employment within the Building Services sector of the construction industry, minimum 2 years experience preferred.
How will you be assessed?
Assessment is by a range of methods including assignments, projects, case studies, practical exercises and examinations.
What qualification will you achieve?
Higher National Certificate in Building Services Engineering.
What can this course lead to?
An Higher National Certificate is an access qualification to senior positions in most disciplines of the Building Services Industry. Those gaining an Higher National Certificate are eligible to join Degree programmes in Building Services Engineering.
