Is this course for you?
The scheme is primarily intended for people working in the Electrical Contracting Industry or those who will eventually be employed in the industry.
What do you need to get on the course?
A reasonable standard of numeracy and literacy is required with preferably a GCSE C in Maths, English & Science together with the motivation to want to be successful in the Electrical Contracting Industry. Prospective candidates should also be capable of working with minimum supervision and have practical capabilities.

What's the course about?
During this course you will study in Year 1 Ensure safe electrical site working. Prepare to install electrical wiring systems, enclosures and equipment. Install electrical wiring systems, enclosures and equipment. Year 2 Connect electrical wiring systems, enclosures and equipment Electrical principles Year 3 Inspect test and commission electrical installation Diagnose and correct electrical faults Provide technical and functional information
Is work experience a necessary part of the course?
No work experience is required for this course.
How will you be assessed?
Each component studied is assessed by a City & Guilds multi-choice paper. Students who successfully complete any component receive a Certificate of Unit Credit. A final certificate is awarded for success in all components.
What qualification will you achieve?
City & Guilds 2351: Knowledge of Electrical Installation Engineering
What can this course lead to?
Successful candidates may progress on to the NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation Engineering.
