Who is the programme for? Who would benefit from the course and who is it aimed at?

We produce versatile, resourceful, confident graduates who are creative, imaginative and self-motivated. Whilst training with us you’ll gain the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career within this exciting industry. You’ll work on projects that are both wide-ranging and challenging. How long does it take to complete?

The course runs for three years, full-time.

What qualifications do I need?

All applications will be considered individually however offers will usually be based on:

64 UCAS points (those with 48 UCAS points will be considered for an interview)
BTEC Level 3 qualification (2 years) in relevant subject
Other related Level 3 qualifications
Normally 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (or numeric score of 4/5 under newly reformed GCSE grading), including maths or English
An Access to Higher Education Diploma in relevant area

Related work experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications

Level 4: Directions in Photography; Making Photography 1; Thinking Photography 1; Explorations in Photography
Level 5: Collaborative Photography; Making Photography 2; Thinking Photography 2; Inspired Photography
Level 6: Self-Directed Project; Critical Research; Professional Identity

Please note that the course will be under review in the academic year 2016-17 and some unit titles may change slightly as a result.

How is the programme assessed?

We use a wide range of assessment methods throughout the course. You will be encouraged to assess yourself and others as part of your studies. The course values self-evaluation and the ability to reflect on learning. You will receive regular verbal and written feedback throughout the year and there are key assessment points when summative feedback is provided.

What award will I achieve?

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive BA (Hons) Contemporary Photography

You can progress into a variety of careers in photography, arts and creative industries. Graduates have found employment in teaching, editorial & amp; PR photography, magazine work, arts-based commissions, self-employment, forensic and medical photography and commercial photography both in the UK and abroad. You can also take up a place on Masters programmes or other postgraduate study, including teaching in primary, secondary or post compulsory education.
