Entry requirements

The programme is most suitable for students who have narrowly missed their GCSE C or 4/5 grades in some subjects and need these to progress.Students who have not had the opportunity to take GCSE Qualifications for a range of reasons will be able to take an aptitude assessment and have an interview to assess their suitability for this programme.

Overview

Our GCSE Programme is a year exam based course covering a range of GCSES. You will be expected to study ‘core’ subjects English, Maths and Biology adding further subjects according to your needs and ability from either Psychology or Sociology.

Progression

Once you have completed this course you will be able to move on to one of our Further Education courses or alternatively one of the Access to HE courses and then progress on to higher Education Course with Stockport College University Centre.

Course assessment

Maths (Edexcel) is offered at both Foundation and Higher Level and is assessed by three written exams throughout the summer months.

English (AQA) is not a tiered qualification and is assessed by two written exams during the summer months. If you have never done the spoken English component before you will need to do this.
Biology (OCR) is offered at Foundation and Higher Level and is assessed by two written exams during the summer period.
Psychology is not a tiered qualification and is assessed by two written exams in the summer.
Sociology is not a tiered qualification and is assessed by two written exams in the summer.

Assessed through written exams and you will also be expected to complete a series of practical tasks.
