
Stockport College is proud to co-host three Centres of Vocational Excellence with participating colleges. Designated by the Learning and Skills Council to colleges, CoVEs demonstrate expertise in delivering specific types of vocational education and training. CoVEs often have college links and close business partnerships, and aim to produce specialists in a wide range of vocational areas to meet the needs of the marketplace.
Media Excellence Training & Development are five education institutes working in partnership across Greater Manchester namely Oldham as the lead College, Salford College, Stockport College and the Manchester College, to up-skill the workforce in media training.

A Centre of Excellence in the Care of the Elderly was launched on the 25th November 2005 as a result of a partnership between Stockport College, Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College and Tameside College. The “Elder” CoVE will focus on the needs of local business in the care sector and develop and deliver a range of training programmes. This award recognises the strengths of the partner colleges in working with employers in the care sector and is the only one of its kind in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
Stockport College is enjoying its third year as the Northwest’s first Motorcycle Automotive Centre of Vocational Excellence. Stockport College together with MANCAT (Manchester College of Arts and Technology) were jointly awarded CoVE status in recognition of their training expertise in the motorcycle and cars & commercial vehicles sectors in early 2005.
