Media Excellence Training & Development are five education institutes working in partnership across Greater Manchester namely Oldham as the lead College, Salford College, Stockport College and the Manchester college, to up-skill the workforce in media training and enable "new entrants" to be job ready for the media industry with the imminent move North of the BBC to MediaCity.
The Media CoVE has received full CoVE status, being awarded Centre of Vocational Excellence. This is a major achievement and is recognised by the media industry, government verifiers and exam bodies as a centre of providing a wide range of highly professional media training for industry. The Media CoVE provides over 16 digital and media courses, short, bespoke courses and post graduate and professional training.
The four partners are now recognised for the close links forged with employers, schools and other institutions, business partners and other training providers. The Media CoVE is equipped with state of the art resources, with software and hardware, facilities and equipment hire available to industry, freelancers, employers and employees including TV studios, Cameras, lighting and the support of in-house qualified technicians.
Cove status is gained by the colleges due to their expertise and knowledge in the field of media. The colleges have the flexibility of delivery through highly qualified tutors with Industry Sector Specific knowledge and have worked strenuously to built sustainable working Partnerships with Freelancers, Employers and Employees in the Media and Creative Industries marketplace.
The mission statement of the CoVE supported by LSC funding is working with the media industry in specialist areas of Film, TV, Broadcast, Radio, Photography, Journalism, Digital Media and Digital Media Make-up to up-skill the workforce and ensure that new recruits into the industry are job ready.
