Foundation Degree: Design and Advertising

The Foundation Degree in Graphic Communication gives learners the opportunity to explore a range of specialist areas such as Interactive media and web design, brand identity and logo design, magazine design, advertising, digital illustration and typography.

The course is geared towards giving you the practical skills and knowledge you will need to land a job in the design industry with the added benefit of work placements in Manchester based agencies.

In year one you will be introduced to design principles and skills working with the latest software packages including photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator and web design applications. You will be able to try out all the design and advertising areas before selecting from the range of optional modules in year 2: for instance you might like to do Web Design and Digital illustration or Brand Identity and Advertising.

And when you have completed your second year you will have the choice of employment or continuing onto the third year of the BA(Hons) course where you can specialise further in Web Design, Graphic Design and Advertising or Digital illustration.
