Education

Our Education team, who have many years experience and come from a variety of teaching backgrounds, offer courses for Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) lecturers as well as uclan logoanyone in the Learning and Skills sector who teaches or trains – or for those who wish to enter the sector.

Teacher Training courses are endorsed by Lifelong Learning UK .These courses provide the knowledge and skills for teaching the post 14 in FE and adult age group and work towards the full Qualified Teacher in the Learning and Skills sector (QTLS).  For ‘Early Years’ study, please see the Early Childhood Studies section.

Our teacher training courses are designed for the post compulsory sector and educators and trainers in working environments. These include the Threshold Award: Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).  This is an introductory short course that gives those who are interested in teaching or those who teach only a few hours per week a recognised teaching qualification that is LLUK endorsed and nationally recognised.

The full QTLS courses Certificate in Education and PGCE (equivalent to DTLLS) and Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector (CTLLS) are also offered at Stockport College. We also offer an accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for teachers to satisfy the 30 hours CPD that teachers need to achieve to maintain their teacher status and IFL registration.

Our BA Education also builds on initial teacher training qualifications within a Higher Education credit rated framework and gives Certificate in Education students the opportunity to work towards a degree. You can also apply for this with Level 3 qualifications (e.g. A Levels or equivalent)

Additionally we offer a Masters CPD Certificate if you already have a degree.
