

Health and Social Care offers a variety of exciting career opportunities working within a wide range of areas including social services, the National Health Service and voluntary organisations.
The Health and Social Care department is a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) for Elderly Care and has had strong links with employers within the local area for many years. It is run by a highly-qualified teaching team from a range of health and care backgrounds. It benefits from two dedicated resource rooms with access to the internet and a wide range of books and journals. The main college library also stocks a good range of journals and social care books.

The BA Social Work gives students both an academic and a professional qualification. Assessment is through formal college learning as well as practice placement.
Both the full time course, taking 3 years, and the part time course, taking approximately 4 - 41/2 years, are validated by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). Students spend their final year of study at MMU as full time students.
Successful completion of the course will lead to a career as a social work practitioner.
Each staff member offers particular specialist knowledge from varied backgrounds including practice and theory.
