Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find out about courses at Stockport College?

You can go to this section of the website or we can send you information through the post.

How do I apply?

As an international student you need to use an International application form which can be downloaded here or we can send you one.

When will I hear about my application and its status?

We will inform you once the application has gone through to the Department where the course is offered and we will notify you of the outcome-this is when you will receive information regarding the Student Visa.  For more information on how to obtain a visa you can go to

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk/

What sort of course do I need to apply for in order to obtain a Student Visa?

To obtain an adult student visa the course you apply for must be either Level 3 (A Level/National Diploma) or 4 (Degree) and must be a full time day course.

Once you have been offered a place we will inform you about the next step of the process.

PLEASE NOTE: the general rule is that an if you apply before May 2010 you will have a much better chance of getting a place for September 2010-we cannot ensure that late applications will be considered.

How much does it cost to study?

For the academic year of 2009/10 the following fees applied:
Full Time English Courses:  £3,650
Full Time Level 3 Courses: £4,450
Full Time Degree Courses: £6, 950

The above fees are for one full academic year and are subject to change for September 2010/11 academic year

How do I pay?

Once you are offered a place on the course you must pay a deposit with your acceptance document- the cost for 09/10 was £1010 but is subject to change for 2010/11.

You would then need to pay the balance in full on enrolment.
Failure to do this will result in you not being able to enrol.
