If a student knows what kind of job they want to do and would like to start learning in a practical way in the workplace, work based learning could suit them. Under the Apprenticeship scheme, students can study towards nationally recognised qualifications which include NVQs. This scheme provides paid work with an employer for most of the week which allows students to learn in a work environment and the remainder of the programme is taught at college.
Yes and students will get training as well.
Entry requirements vary for each level. Candidates for Advanced Apprenticeships require specific GCSE passes at Grade C or above or completion of an Apprenticeship in the same subject, or an NVQ Level 2. They may be pursued with either a technician or craft emphasis.
