Students are much more likely to be successful in their studies if an effective partnership exists between them, their teachers and their parents or guardians. The College therefore welcomes parental help in supporting students to attend and achieve. This website has many pages that will be of special interest to parents who want to know more about the college and how it supports students.
We expect students to perform well. Students can expect the same from Stockport College. Our performance is measured by Ofsted College Inspectors and the most recent report in May 2008 graded us Outstanding. The College has also recently been awarded the prestigious Beacon status.

The law (Data Protection Act 1998) indicates that parents of students aged under 18 are entitled to some information about their child and his/her studies but are not entitled to know everything.
When students enrol on a course here, they are asked to sign a contract which gives us their permission to contact parents for the following reasons:
Parents may be contacted by telephone, letter or text.
Parents should be aware that the college's contract is always with the student and therefore the student by law is entitled to withdraw their permission for the college to contact parents at any time.
According to the law, (Data Protection Act 1998), where a student is aged over 18, parents' rights to information about their child and his/her studies are very limited. The college is required to treat them as adult students. Parental involvement is still encouraged but under the law this has to be with the student's consent.
