Welcome to Stockport College and the opportunities we offer for Key Stage 4 students. Stockport College has been providing vocational programmes for 14-16 year olds for over ten years and we now have over 1,000 young people visiting our two campuses for vocational courses each week. Vocational programmes have now taken on an even greater significance as they are included in school performance tables and, in the near future, schools and colleges will be working together to develop the new Specialist Diplomas.
Although 14-16 year olds become college students while at Stockport College, they are taught in separate groups within the appropriate specialised college department. Teachers of 14-16 year olds are not only qualified in their respective vocational specialisms, but they also have general teaching qualifications, a special training programme and, above all, want to teach 14-16 year olds. Teachers are backed up by carefully developed policies, procedures and systems. All our staff have good day-to-day working relationships with the schools.
The following information will help give the schools a comprehensive indication of what provision the college will be offering for 2008/09. For further information on the provision contact Julie Mountford on 0161 948 3456 or via e-mail julie.mountford@stockport.ac.uk
