Stockport Metro has been the most successful club in Great Britain since 1996. Half of all the British Olympic finalists are from the Stockport Metro Club.

Stephen Parry gained Bronze at Athens 2004 in the 200m Butterfly and Graeme Smith Bronze in Atlanta 1996 in the 1500m Freestyle.

Swimmers have represented Stockport Metro with distinction at every level of International competition, including European Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Olympic Games.

The club is based at Grand Central Pools in Stockport. The centre boasts a 50m pool with variable depth and is literally a one minute walk from the Town Centre Campus of the College.

The partnership between the College and Stockport Metro will also offer a wide range of support services for the swimmers on the programme. These will include Physio and Massage Therapy, Lactate Testing, Training and Competition Video Analysis, Under Water Video Analysis and access to Nutritionists, Physiologists and other sports professionals.
