Last night Stockport College hosted its annual Student Awards Ceremony, an evening dedicated to recognising and celebrating our learners for their determination, individuality, progress and commitment to their studies.
With an audience comprised of close friends, family members and staff members students were applauded and acknowledged for the influence they have had on the wider college community, making Stockport College a better place to study and develop on a educational and personal level.
Dr Mike Potter CBE, Transition Principal and CEO of Stockport College presented the students with their awards after recognising the certificates as a milestone within their lives, before they embark on the next step of their professional or academic lives.
Melanie Hargrave-Mccomb, Associate Director of Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare said that:
“I am very proud of our team work at Stockport College and extremely proud of every student that received an award. Some of the students receiving an award during the evening had excelled through difficult circumstances and in doing so demonstrated true resilience.”
Melanie continued to say:
“During the Awards Ceremony one father had approached me to say that this is the first time his daughter had been recognised for something that he sees in her every day and that had brought him to tears.”
At Stockport College we commend our students for going above and beyond, for embracing what makes them different and for reminding us why we continue to provide vocational education that encompasses personal development and enrichment opportunities.
