Travel Information and Advice

The service we offer could make the difference in the cost and length of the journey to and from college-all part of a positive College experience.

There are a range of passes such as those provided by Bus Operators and more general concessionary and other passes provided by Greater Manchester Public Transport Executive (GMPTE)

There are also a variety of different operating companies for bus and train services, which can be explored. We may be able to cut time off the journey or find a more efficient alternative to your current route.

We are also keen to encourage the move towards a cleaner and greener environment by promoting alternatives modes of travel including walking and cycling where appropriate.

Working in partnership with College Welfare Services there may be opportunities for students to get financial support with travel costs through the Learner Support Fund, Access to Learning Fund, and possibly even the Local Authority.

Holly Burton, Travel Adviser, can give guidance about a selection of travel and fare options so that you can make an informed choice about how they get to college. Holly is available at Town Centre Campus on Monday and Wednesday in the Information and Advice Centre from 10:00am to 4:00pm or at Heaton Moor Campus on Tuesdays between the same hours.

You can contact her at holly.burton@stockport.ac.uk or on 0161 958 3142

Alternatively you can access information from:
GMPTE on www.gmpte.gov.uk which has links to all modes of public transport and information on timetables, fares and passes.
